Enhanced Statistical Browser for CaseBASE Released

The Treatment Field gets its first Standardized Commercial Reporting Offering

September 12, 1997 -- ACSL (the makers of CaseBASE for DATIS) have announced the release of the Enhanced Statistical Browser.   The Statistical Browser is a core statistical reporting tool in CaseBASE for DATIS.   Response to the release of the standard version of the statistical browser in version 2.50.00 of CaseBASE has been overwhelmingly positive.  Users are designing reports that pull key statistical information about the makeup and nature of their client bases - critical information to have when making important decisions during Ontario's rationalization of community and social services programs.

The Enhanced Statistical Browser expands the selection of filter fields from 25 to 393 - offering virtually all the data fields (including all custom fields) making up an electronic case record in CaseBASE.  The number of fields in an individual filter has also been expanded from 15 to 100.   These enhancements increase the level of refinement in specifying a client population for analysis, and as a result, the depth of analysis that can be performed.

The release of the Enhanced Statistical Browser also heralds another important milestone for the treatment field, and DATIS.  This is the first commercial release of a CaseBASE product enhancement that has universal appeal across the entire treatment field, regardless of treatment setting or delivery mode.

CaseBASE has become a defacto standard because of it's wide acceptance and use, making possible the development of aggressively priced add on products.  Without universal mass appeal, and a standardized dataset as a foundation, product add ons wouldn't be commercial viable, and would not get developed.  Further add on and enhancement products of the CaseBASE family are being planned at ACSL.

DATIS was formed by the Addiction Research Foundation in partnership with the Ministry of Health in April of 1995 to provide a province-wide information collection, support and analysis network for the Drug & Alcohol Treatment community in Ontario. DATIS provides information services to all stakeholders in the Drug & Alcohol Treatment system in Ontario. ACSL has provided the technical consulting and software (CaseBASE for DATIS) to collect, manage and centralize DATIS's information and support services.
