CaseBASE for DATIS 2.50.00 ReleasedDrug & Alcohol Treatment Information System Begins to Deploy CaseBASE Version 2.50.00 in AgenciesMay 15, 1997 -- ACSL has delivered it's release version of CaseBASE Version 2.50.00 to the Drug and Alcohol Treatment Information System of Ontario (known as DATIS). DATIS has already begun to deploy the latest version in large, networked agencies across Ontario. This update delivers on key pieces of CaseBASE which many agencies have been asking for as well as finalizes all remaining components outlined in ACSL's software agreement with DATIS. Chief among these new features is the release version of WordPerfect Merge, CaseNOTES and the Statistical Browser. WordPerfect Merge enables users to create template letters, forms or other wordprocessing documents and merge data fields from CaseBASE directly into a WordPerfect document. CaseNOTES enables an agency to store multiple wordprocessed documents directly into CaseBASE along side the client's Facesheet data. The Statistical Browser is a powerful new component that empowers an agency to run simple statistical reports on any data fields located in the Client Patient Screen, Face Sheet, Admission, Intake Document, Program Document, Referral Document or Service Log. Unlike other programs similar to CaseBASE, the Statistical Browser permits the user to restrict or allow the inclusion of Carry Over cases into a browser report! The Statistical Browser requires no special knowledge to use and has a simple user interface from which to select the data fields and time periods for reporting. With the addition of the Filter Builder, more advanced users can also create special criteria for selecting cases to be reported in the Statistical Browser, using simple boolean logic statements on any fields the Statistical Browser presents. Initial feedback from the field on the Statistical Browser has been overwhelmingly positive. Amongst these new additions are ongoing modifications that make CaseBASE easier to use and more relevant to an agency's daily information handling requirements. A list of over 42 major items is included in the update information text file provided on disk 2 of the release. DATIS has also refined the standard statistical libraries and Service Type modes to reflect changes and issues brought forth by the provincial government's rationalization project in Ontario, as well as issues brought forth by the user community. CaseBASE continues to be supported, enhanced and updated, and work has begun on the next version, which will include new components to support the next phases in the Drug & Alcohol Treatment Information System's regional and provincial data collection and reporting strategy. Stay tuned! DATIS was formed by the Addiction Research Foundation in partnership with the Ministry of Health in April of 1995 to provide a province-wide information collection, support and analysis network for the Drug & Alcohol Treatment community in Ontario. DATIS provides information services to all stakeholders in the Drug & Alcohol Treatment system in Ontario. ACSL has provided the technical consulting and software (CaseBASE for DATIS) to collect, manage and centralize DATIS's information and support services. For More Information
